Ellis Island

Though this wasn’t my first time at Ellis island, the last time I went was 15 years ago. Much of what immigrants from the early 20th century endured is horrifying in that context, and even more horrifying to see the exact practices replicated today. I appreciate that with age I’m able to understand exactly what this means and how we can attempt to change this experience.
