j-design: Paper Prototyping
Paper prototyping is a technique that allows you to create and test user interfaces quickly and cheaply. It’s easier to change a prototype than the final design.
There are mostly 2 dominant uses:
- The design team uses paper for their presentation to a larger group of people who have a vested interest in the product.
- Users run through a set of existing paper mock-ups or are given blank paper and asked to represent a concept by sketching it.
The most important advantages of Paper prototyping according to me is to mock up ideas with utmost simplicity and to be able to keep going even if you don’t have access to a testing lab or if computers, networks, or high-tech prototypes don’t work as expected. Easy documentation & iterations.
